Free Seminar

Following on from the success of our inaugural seminar on DoLS and the Mental Capacity Act, we are now continuing the series with a talk by Dr Ian Hall Entitled “Can we really keep people out of hospital?” where he will talk about the model in Tower Hamlets, with an introduction by his Senior Registrar, Dr Niall O’Kane.

Dr Ian Hall

Dr Ian Hall is a consultant psychiatrist for people with learning disbility working in Tower Hamlets in London, and a Lead Clinician for people with learning disability and autism at East London NHS Foundation Trust.  He is an Associate Dean at the Royal College of Psychiatists, and leads on training for psychiatrists in intellectual disability in North London.  As Chair of Faculty of Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability, he worked with the Department of Health and the Care Quality Commission on developing policy for peopld with learning disability after the Winterbourne View scandal.  His practice in Tower Hamlets is quoted as a good practice example in Transforming Care guidance.

Dr Niall O’Kane is a psychiatry registrar working with people with intellectual disability in East London.  He is particularly interested in developing the best services for people with learning disabilities, making sure people with learning disabilities have their mental  health problems properly recognised.
